Each Nominating Agency may select and nominate up to five (5) candidates for undergraduate programmes, clearly indicating the level of study for each applicant.
The Nominating Agency will then forward the endorsed applications to the Mauritian Ministry of Education for final consideration.
Mauritius Government Scholarship 2026 Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Mauritius Government Scholarship 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Undergraduate Applicants: Must be at least 18 years old and not older than 26 years by January 1, 2027.
- PhD Applicants: Must not be older than 40 years by January 1, 2027.
- Must have applied for a full-time, on-campus programme (Diploma, Degree, MPhil, or PhD) at a public higher education institution in Mauritius for the 2026 academic year.
- The scholarship duration will depend on the minimum course duration or the maximum period specified, whichever is shorter.
Mauritius Government Scholarship 2026 Benefits
The Mauritius Government Scholarship covers the following:
- Full tuition fees at approved public universities in Mauritius.
- Monthly living allowance to help cover day-to-day expenses.
- Return airfare on the most economical route — from the country of origin at the start of the studies, and back upon successful completion of the programme.

Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents:
- Completed Application Form (to be filled electronically before printing)
- Certified academic transcripts and certificates
- Proof of application or admission to a Mauritian higher education institution
- Copy of birth certificate and passport
- Medical certificate
- Endorsement letter from the Nominating Agency (Section 5 of the application form)
- Guidelines for Applicants document (available on the official website)
Each country’s Nominating Agency or Ministry of Education may endorse a maximum of 15 applicants — five each for Undergraduate, Master’s, and PhD categories.
