
About Legislative Mentorship Initiative
The Legislative Mentorship Initiative (LMI) is a transformative leadership programme designed to equip and empower dynamic young Nigerians with the skills, knowledge, and practical exposure needed to excel in public sector leadership, particularly within the legislature.
Legislative Mentorship Initiative unique initiative provides hands-on training, mentorship, and engagement in governance and public service, fostering collaborative, inclusive, and ethical leadership.
Participants will gain real-world experience that positions them as future leaders ready to contribute to Nigeria’s democratic growth, stability, and sustainable development.
The LMI Fellowship attracts and trains dedicated young professionals who demonstrate commitment, patriotism, and vision for effective governance.
The Legislative Mentorship Initiative offers a holistic blend of classroom learning, field exposure, and community engagement, enabling fellows to understand the complexities of legislative processes while developing innovative solutions for national development.
The fellowship programme will run in three structured phases:
- 3 Weeks Residential Training – Intensive sessions including lectures, simulations, case studies, and interactive workshops.
- 1 Month Internship – Practical experience embedded within legislative and public institutions.
- 1 Month Virtual Training & Community Interactions – Continued mentorship, peer learning, and policy engagement.
Legislative Mentorship Initiative Selection Criteria
Applicants must:
- Hold a minimum of Degree/HND from a recognized institution.
- Be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
- Demonstrate strong leadership potential with a credible track record of service to community and society.
- Show fluency in English (oral & written), creativity, and innovation for practical, inclusive, and sustainable solutions.
- Be patriotic, visionary, and passionate about Nigeria’s growth and legislative development.
- Be willing to commit fully to the programme’s values and requirements.
- Be between 21 – 35 years old at the time of application.
