About IOM Diversity and Inclusion Internship
Every year, the IOM Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme (International Organization for Migration) opens its doors to hundreds of interns globally. With a presence in nearly 600 field locations worldwide, IOM assists governments in managing migration flows, ensuring safe and orderly migration.
To support its mandate, IOM requires diverse professionals from various backgrounds. However, recognizing the challenges some face in accessing internships due to location or personal circumstances, IOM launched the Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme.
Programme Overview
The IOM Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme aims to address imbalances by providing financial support for accommodation, living expenses, travel, and visa costs for selected interns.
These internships, spanning six months, are highly competitive, typically involving online tests and interviews. Since its inception in 2018, the programme has offered between 15 to 20 positions annually, targeting talented individuals from under-represented groups.
2024 Programme Focus
In 2024, IOM’s Diversity and Inclusion Internship Programme emphasizes two components:
- Internships for Nationals of Non- and Under-represented Member States: Six positions are exclusively open to individuals from these states, promoting diversity within IOM’s workforce.
- Internships for Persons with Disabilities: Nine roles are dedicated to candidates who identify as persons with disabilities, fostering inclusivity and providing career development opportunities.
