About the Erasmus Mundus EMMIR Scholarship
Applications are now open for the Erasmus Mundus EMMIR Scholarship 2025, offering international students the opportunity to pursue a master’s degree in Migration and Intercultural Relations. This is a two-year program run by a consortium of nine partner institutions across Europe, Africa, and Asia, designed to provide an interdisciplinary understanding of migration.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Hold a first degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in a field related to migration studies, such as Social Sciences, History, Cultural Studies, Educational Sciences, Law, Economics, Development Studies, or Journalism.
- The final grade of the first degree must be a minimum of C+ or equivalent, proven by official certificates.
- Documentation of the final degree, including the final grade, must be provided by the application deadline (a transcript showing all necessary exams is acceptable).
- Demonstrated knowledge in migration studies, intercultural relations, and empirical methods, supported by relevant undergraduate modules, papers, essays, or exams.
- Preference is given to applicants with relevant professional experience.
- The last degree obtained should not be older than five years; if it is, an explanation must be provided in the statement of purpose.
- Applicants who already hold a master’s degree must justify their reason for pursuing another one.
- Applicants who have previously received an Erasmus Mundus Joint Master (EMJM) scholarship are ineligible for this program.
Required Documents
Applicants must upload the following documents in PDF format through the online application form:
- Clear copy of a valid passport
- CV
- Statement of Purpose (1-2 pages) explaining your motivation for studying EMMIR
- First university degree diploma and transcript, and other relevant degrees (if applicable)
- Documentation of language proficiency (certified true copies or originals; in the case of IELTS, a copy showing the test ID #)
- Other relevant documents
Selection Criteria
The Consortium Committee Selection Board evaluates applications based on:
- Academic qualification relevance and level
- Research or professional experience relevance and level
- Motivation for applying
- Proficiency in a second or third language
Benefits of the Program
Scholarship recipients will receive the following benefits:
- Monthly stipend of €1,400 for 24 months
- Coverage for health insurance, university registration, and student service fees
- Responsibility for mobility costs, such as travel, visa fees, vaccinations, and residence permit fees
- Mobility costs must be covered by the monthly stipend, as there are no additional payments for travel or installation
How to Apply
- Register on the eMundus platform
- Complete and submit the online application via eMundus by December 18, 2024
- You will receive a confirmation email upon successful submission
- Applications are evaluated starting in April 2025, and notifications will be sent
- If accepted, send certified hard copies of application documents within 10 days of receiving notification
