About the BI Presidential Scholarship 2025

- Candidates should have a minimum overall GPA of ‘A’ on the ECTS scale, or an equivalent top-level grade according to international grading systems.
- Students in their third year of the Sivøk program (Siviløkonom) are also eligible to apply.
- The scholarship is open to candidates with Norwegian or EU/EEA/Swiss citizenship.
- International students from outside the EU/EEA who are residents of Norway may also be eligible, depending on their residency status. Applicants in this category must submit proof of residency along with their scholarship application.
- International students who moved to Norway for their bachelor’s studies and are set to complete a full 180 ECTS bachelor’s degree in Norway by the application year may also apply. These candidates must not have any break between completing their bachelor’s degree and beginning their master’s studies.
- Only candidates admitted to a Master of Science degree program at either the Oslo or Bergen campus are eligible. However, applicants to the BI-Luiss Joint Master’s in Marketing program are not eligible for this scholarship.
Please note that international applicants from non-EU/EEA/Swiss countries who do not reside in Norway are not eligible for the BI Presidential Scholarship.
Selection Criteria
Selection for the BI Presidential Scholarship is based on several criteria:
- Only applicants who have been admitted to a Master of Science program at BI and have accepted their admission offer will be considered.
- The selection process ensures that scholarships are distributed across different MSc programs at BI.
- Scholarships may be awarded based on BI’s institutional priorities, such as specific MSc programs, diversity and gender balance, or partnerships with other schools.
- Applicants are evaluated using the ECTS grading system, and grades from international bachelor’s degrees will be converted accordingly.
- Academic excellence, scores on standardized tests like the GMAT, GRE, or CAT, involvement in extracurricular activities, and notable personal achievements are considered in the selection process.
- International applicants are also eligible to be considered for the MSc International Scholarship, in addition to the BI Presidential Scholarship.
Benefits of the BI Presidential Scholarship
The BI Presidential Scholarship provides the following benefits, depending on the applicant’s status:
- For Norwegian and international applicants residing in Norway: The scholarship covers full tuition fees for each semester, for up to two years, provided the recipient maintains satisfactory academic progression.
- For Sivøk program applicants: The scholarship covers full tuition fees for up to two years, provided that academic progression requirements are met.
- For international applicants from outside Norway: The scholarship not only covers full tuition fees but also provides a stipend for each semester, for up to two years. This stipend is designed to assist with living expenses and covers approximately 70% of the estimated costs.
How to Apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship
To apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship, follow these steps:
- Submit Your Admission Application:
You must apply for admission to one of BI’s Master of Science programs through the online portal. The scholarship application must be submitted simultaneously with your admission application. - Write a Scholarship Application Letter:
As part of the application process, write a one-page letter detailing why you should be considered for the BI Presidential Scholarship. The letter should focus on your academic achievements rather than financial need. Clearly explain why you are a strong candidate based on your academic background and future goals. - Upload Your Scholarship Letter:
Upload your scholarship letter to the ‘Scholarship’ section of the online admission application portal. - Submit All Required Documents:
Ensure that your admission application includes all necessary documents, such as transcripts, standardized test scores (if applicable), and any other materials required for your MSc program. Your scholarship application will only be reviewed if your admission application is complete and your offer of admission has been accepted. - Automatic Consideration for International Applicants:
If you are an international applicant, you will automatically be considered for the MSc International Scholarship when you apply for the BI Presidential Scholarship. No additional application is required.
