About the AFS Global STEM Innovators
Are you a teenager with a passion for STEM and sustainability? Do you want to make a difference in the world but aren’t sure where to start? The AFS Global STEM Innovators program might be just what you’re looking for!
The AFS Global STEM Innovators program offers full-scholarship, 6-week domestic exchange opportunities for teens aged 14-17 who are interested in exploring STEM, sustainability, and intercultural skills. Developed by AFS and funded by bp, this program aims to empower young people to become change-makers by providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to address global challenges.
AFS Global STEM Innovators Program Highlights
The STEM Innovators Program highlights are given below;
- Hybrid virtual curriculum (5 weeks) followed by a weeklong in-person workshop
- Focus on STEM, global competence, and sustainability, aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
- Scholarship funding provided by bp
- Opportunity to apply for further scholarships such as the Global STEM Accelerator or Global STEM Academy
United Kingdom Innovators Highlights
Here are the highlights of the AFS Innovators Program;
- For teens (ages 14-17) from Aberdeen, Teesside, and South Wales, UK
- Application deadline: June 2, 2024
- Virtual Exchange: July 8 – August 9, 2024 (online)
- Workshop: August 11-17, 2024 (in person) hosted in Aberdeen and Teesside
AFS Global STEM Indonesia Innovators

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Legal residents of specified postcode areas in the UK or Indonesia
- Birthdate between January 1, 2007, and July 31, 2010
- Demonstrated interest in STEM and sustainability
- Ability to travel and participate in the program
- Language proficiency and diverse backgrounds are valued
How to Apply For The AFS Global STEM Innovators
To apply for the 2024 UK Innovators program, applications should be submitted by June 2, 2024. For more information about the application process and selection criteria, visit the AFS Global STEM Innovators official webpage below.
The program is available only via scholarship award.

- Indonesia Innovators: Legal residents of Indonesia, with a focus on encouraging applicants from all provinces, especially Papua
- Birthdate: Between January 1, 2007, and July 31, 2010
- Language: Proficiency in English is preferred.
- Interests: Interest in STEM, sustainability, and global competence.
- Ability to Travel :Applicants must be able to travel and participate in the program.
