About Access Bank Climate Leadership Fellowship
The Access Bank Climate Leadership Fellowship 2024 is accepting applications for its sixth cohort. Climate change is having a significant impact on the entire world, including Nigeria.
Drought, desertification, flooding, and disrupted rainfall patterns are all significant challenges for the country, affecting health, well-being, and the environment negatively.
Agricultural yields in the north have plummeted, resulting in high poverty rates, while the south suffers from extreme flooding and waterborne diseases.
In response to these challenges, Climate Smart Nigeria, in partnership with Glow Initiative for Economic Empowerment and supported by Access Bank PLC, is investing in a new generation of young energy leaders to drive energy transition and climate action across Nigeria.
Access Bank Climate Leadership Fellowship (Cohort VI) aims to provide expert training for individuals passionate about making a difference in climate leadership, renewable energy applications, climate advocacy, diplomacy, and finance.
The program covers a range of topics, including data-driven climate advocacy and awareness, the climate finance landscape, and the Green Climate Fund.
Additionally, it focuses on clean cooking, clean energy, solar power, and waste-to-energy sectors, equipping fellows with the knowledge and skills needed to drive positive climate action.
After training, fellows will adopt a school or community to teach climate education, grooming young leaders to promote a climate-resilient nation.
Fellows will receive a climate education toolkit and a certificate of climate leadership.
Program Outline
- Four-week intensive expert training on climate leadership for selected fellows.
- Fellows who complete the training will receive a climate education toolkit and instruction on its use.
