About the TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme
The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), in partnership with the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences in Kolkata, India, invites applications for the 2025 TWAS-SN Bose Postdoctoral Fellowship Programme. This fellowship is designed to give young researchers from developing countries (excluding India) the opportunity to pursue postdoctoral research in the physical sciences at one of India’s premier institutions.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must satisfy all of the following conditions to be considered:
- Age Limit: Must be 45 years or younger as of December 31, 2025.
- Nationality: Must be a citizen of a developing country other than India.
- Residency Restrictions: Applicants must not hold any visa for temporary or permanent residency in India or in any developed country.
- Employment Status: Must be regularly employed by a research institution in a developing country (other than India) and hold an active research assignment.
- Educational Qualification: Must hold a PhD in physics, mathematics, physical chemistry, or any branch of the life sciences.
- Host Institution Acceptance: Must secure preliminary acceptance from a department at the S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences. Applications without an acceptance letter will not be considered.
- English Proficiency: If English was not the medium of education, proof of English language proficiency is required.
- Commitment to Return: Applicants must provide evidence of returning to their home country upon completion of the fellowship.
- Exclusivity: Applicants must not take up other assignments during the fellowship and must be financially responsible for any accompanying family members.

- Exception: If you are hosting a visiting scholar at your institution under TWAS Visiting Professor programmes, you may still apply for this postdoctoral fellowship.
