Talos Fellowship

About Talos Fellowship

The Talos Fellowship, previously known as the EU Tech Policy Fellowship, is an exceptional opportunity for ambitious graduates looking to advance their careers in European policy, particularly in the realms of artificial intelligence (AI) and emerging technologies.

This fellowship program is designed to ensure the safe and responsible deployment of AI systems that pose systemic risks, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills to lead in this critical area.

Programme Structure

The Talos Fellowship is structured into two main tracks—Training Track and Placement Track—offering a blend of online learning, in-person summits, and practical placements.

Training Track

  • Online Training: Engage in the EU AI Policy Fundamentals Programme, an 8-week online course running from 29th January to 19th March 2025. This programme provides a comprehensive understanding of AI policy in Europe.
  • Brussels Summit: Attend a 7-day in-person policymaking summit in Brussels from 22nd to 28th March 2025, where you will engage with experts and policymakers.
  • Career Support: Receive personalized coaching and support to launch your career in tech policy with confidence.

Placement Track

  • Complete the Training Track: Participate in the 8-week online training and the Brussels Summit.
  • Think Tank Placement: Secure a 4-6 month placement at a leading European think tank, where you will gain hands-on experience in policy work. This track includes a stipend to support your efforts.

International AI Governance Specialisation

For those interested in international collaboration on AI governance, the fellowship offers a specialized track:

  • Training and Summit: Participate in the full scope of the Training Track, including the online course and Brussels Summit.
  • Specialized Assignments: During the training period, you will complete assignments focused on the EU’s role in global AI governance.
  • Optional Placement: Optionally, secure a 4-6 month placement with an organization involved in international AI governance, supported by a stipend.

Talos Fellowship Application Process

The application form for the Talos Fellowship consists of three sections:

  1. About You: Provide details about your background, including your current CV.
  2. Essay Responses: Answer short essay questions demonstrating your suitability for the fellowship.
  3. Programme Preferences: Indicate your preferences for the tracks and specialization.

The application is expected to take approximately one hour to complete, provided you have your CV ready.

A strong preference will be given to candidates with EU citizenship since many influential roles in EU institutions are only open to EU citizens. In addition we are unable to sponsor visas for placements (which take place in Europe) at this time. However, exceptional candidates who are not EU citizens but possess significant relevant experience (at least 3 years) may be considered.

Application Deadline: Sunday, 13th October 2024 (end of day CET).

If you have any questions during the application process, please reach out to the team at team @talosnetwork.org.

This Talos Fellowship is an unparalleled opportunity to dive deep into AI policy and contribute to the shaping of European and international governance in this rapidly evolving field.

Don’t miss your chance to be part of the next generation of tech policy leaders.
